HTC has officially unveiled its newest flagship Android smartphone. The HTC One (M8) uses a design similar to last year's model, but this time around sports a larger screen, a slightly curvier body, and a "duo camera" setup on the rear.

The new HTC One is also equipped with a 5-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, and microSD card support. The phone carries over the front-facing stereo Boomsound speakers from its predecessor (this time without Beats Audio), which the company says is 25 percent louder than before.
Battery life has also been improved, with HTC claiming a 40 percent improvement over last year's model. Additional power saving modes have been introduced as well, which should extend the life of the 2,600 mAh battery even further.

HTC's new Sense UI—referred to as "Sixth Sense"—has been updated with a flatter design. The company also opened up its BlinkFeed software to new partners, including Foursquare and Fitbit, allowing quick updates to the homescreen from more sources.
As for the unique "duo camera" setup, the second, smaller camera near the top of the rear aluminum casing is used for depth sensitivity, adding more precise control over which parts of a picture are in focus and which portions are blurred. HTC is sticking with its Ultrapixel approach—that is, using higher image data to create oversampled pictures. The camera app has also been updated to include more manual photo settings and video modes, and the face of the phone features a 5-megapixel camera.
The HTC One (M8) will be available in gunmetal gray, glacial silver and amber gold today, depending on carrier. Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, Rogers, Bell, and Telus customers, specifically, will be able to get the new phone starting at 1pm ET. The handset will reach other carriers and regions before the end of April. The new HTC One will also be sold in Developer and Google Play editions for $650 and $699, respectively, with both available for pre-order today.
