The silicon is undoubtedly aimed at emerging markets, but it should also mean that even the cheapest of handsets can take advantage of faster cellular data. [Qualcomm via Engadget]Qualcomm has announced that its latest entry-level smartphone system-on-a-chip, the Snapdragon 210, will be cheap enough to appear in sub-$100 off-contract handsets-and it even offers LTE.Announced in Hong Kong, the chip features a 1.1 GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPUs, Adreno 304 GPU, Bluetooth 4.1, 802.11n WiFi, and support for display resolutions of up to 720p. But crucially it also supports multi-mode 3G and dual-mode LTE; it's the firs cheap chip of its kind to offer LTE, in fact.
