Google is buckling up to release its first device from the Android One project next month; will be focussed on entry level smartphones

Google announced the Android One Project at the Google I/O 2014. The core intension with the Android One was to help manufacturers in creating entry level Android devices with unhindered Google experience.
The One devices will run on stock Android and let users' relish the Vanilla Android Experience. The homegrown manufacturers like Micromax, Karbonn and Spice have already expressed their desire to join the Android One bandwagon. The One device will be similar to the budget phones but with a richer user experience. Google did the same, some years ago for a affordable mid segment phone and the result was the Nexus series.
Google will be hand in gloves with the Taiwanese manufacturer MediaTek for the needs at the hardware end. The collaboration with MediaTek will keep the prices down and yet provide descent performance characteristics. Google wants to keep the price of these devices below the $100 mark. This move will give a tough fight to the yet to bloom Firefox Mozilla Operating system. The rumors are that the OEM parts suppliers are not happy with their move as Google is throttling their profit margin.
The crux of the matter is that Google wants the entire world to prescribe to the Android ecosystem so that it will have a huge customer base.
The first Android One devices were earlier expected to hit the Indian market in October but Google says that it has fast tracked the entire ordeal and we may be able to buy an Android One device this September.
The budget smartphone market is a big playground with huge market volumes and Android is the unprecedented king when it comes to the smartphone for the masses. Hopefully Android L will help manufacturers leverage the Google factor and come up with some very good devices in the budget range.
