Does Nokia's latest budget contender Lumia 530 have in it to take on popular Moto E? KYMI pits the two to find out

Budget smartphones are here to replace feature phones once and for all. It all started with Motorola's Moto E that offered consumers an extreme value for money without any cheap bits or compromises. This phone sold like hot cakes and needless to say it piped up the competition.
Nokia on the other hand had a good grasp over this segment with their Lumia 520 which eventually became the bestselling Windows Phone worldwide. The Lumia 520's magic started to wear off after the new entrants like the Moto E and the Unite 2 offered more features at a lesser price. Now Nokia has introduced its sucessor, Lumia 530 in the market, hoping to recreate the success.
Today we pit the two budget contenders to see which one has an edge over the other:
Design and Build
Consumers were previously fed up with the notion that budget phones were more of a compromise and learnt to stay with some niggles. The Moto E, squashed this perception with an extremely well designed body panel that offered a rubberized finish for better grip. The rear panel of the device has a camera lens surrounded by a thin anodized aluminum ring and a small crater that bears the Motorola Logo.
The Lumia 530 on the other hand is slightly curvy and resembles the Lumia 630 in design. Nokia has incorporated the capacitive keys inside the screen similar to what Motorola did with the E. The solid color option of the Lumia 530 is something that will render a higher degree of funkiness to the phone. The Moto E is more of a bold serious look whereas the Lumia 530 is all about young and energetic vibes.
Screen
Lumia 530 comes with a 4 inch screen borrowed from its predecessor as opposed to the slightly larger 4.3 inch screen in the Moto E. The viewing angles are good in the Lumia 530 as compared to the Moto E. The Moto E screen is on the other hand extremely responsive but the viewing angles are something that is not impressive. The Moto E screen is almost useless in bright sunlight or even in normal daylight. Both the devices have almost the same pixel density at 245ppi (Lumia 530) and 256ppi (Moto E).
Under The hood
Once we take a peek at what lies beneath the hood we find out that the Lumia 530 has been bestowed with a Quad Core processor clocked at 1.2GHz as opposed to the Dual Core 1.2 GHz . The 512MB RAM in the Lumia 530 is a big-time blooper as it will restrict you from playing some gaming titles. Hopefully Microsoft will address this issue in the final build. The Moto E on the contrary has a 1.2GHz Dual Core processor strapped with a powerful 1GB RAM. The User Interface of both these devices is extremely fluidic and they don’t feel like budget devices at all.
Camera
Camera these days has taken a precedence over other features as it is always good to have a descent camera handy. The Moto E has a 5 Megapixel fixed focus camera along with HDR and Panorama features. The images are of modest quality and the images tend to blur with even the slightest movement. The Camera is best for daylight outdoor photography.Nokia has always been known for its excellent cameras and the Lumia 530 is no different. The 5Megapixel sensor is more stable than the Moto E and so are the images. The depth of the image is better than the Moto E also. The Lumia 530 should have been fixed with a LED Flash so that it would have easily outdone the Moto E.
Battery
The Moto E has a larger battery at 1980 mAh as compared to the 1430 mAh battery in the Lumia 530. If we consider the battery backup then the Lumia 530 excels owing to the frugality of the Windows Phone Operating system. The Moto E like most of the Androids runs out of battery before bedtime.
Verdict
Moto E has been my personal favorite in the  budget segment and has been an instant hit with the first time smartphone users. The build quality and the Android KitKat along with the Motorola promise of priority update make the Moto E an excellent buy. If you’re looking for more finesse and a phone with better camera without shelling down any extra bucks then the Lumia 530 is the best bet. These devices are excellent packages at the price they are retailing and there are very less chances that you can go wrong with either one of them.
